This is a weaving that I wove from recycled ties that were donate by the community. It will be hanging at the gallery(Raleigh Street Gallery) through the end of August. Folks are invited to bring ties in through out the month to weave on my old barn loom.
My friend Nancy and I meet every Monday at the local co-op to weave. We often have folks ask question and children always want to try it. Today Nancy had a student who really was excited that she let her weave on the loom. This is also a picture of the design that Nancy is weaving.

This is the river that Sylvia Heyden has been so inspired by to do her latest tapestry collection. It is only a mile or so down the road from her wonderful off the grid home. How awesome to have something so close that inspires you so much.
I recently was very blessed to spend the day with a Silvia Heyden. I was graciously invited by the Tapestry Weavers South to share in there visit to Silvia's home. Silvia shared some of her life with us and how her passion for the abstract tapestries that she weaveshave evolved. She attended the School of Design in Zurich when Johannes Itten was the director. During this time Itten was in the process of writing Art of Color . How cool is that? They were the students who experimented with his theories and worked directly with his seven color contrasts. Can you tell I had fun!!
